The Lorain County Academy (LCA) is an alternative school collaboration involving the Educational Service Center of Lorain County, 14 Lorain County school districts, the County Juvenile Justice System, and 17 human service agencies. Students in grades 6 through 9 may be referred to LCA when they are in need assistance beyond what is provided in a traditional school setting. In partnership with the family, home school, and the community mental health agencies, LCA works to support the social, emotional and academic needs of the students. The LCA goal is to prepare students for a healthy, productive and successful transition back to their home school and into adulthood. The Academy is appropriate and meaningful for selected students that are not achieving and/or behaving in a manner within the regular school setting to be successful.
