ABOUT US

Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) in the school setting provide indirect, direct, consultative and evaluative services to students identified with a communication disorder negatively impacting their educational performance in the general curriculum.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

SLPs are required to hold and maintain two licenses: 1) Ohio Department of Education (ODE) and 2) Ohio Speech and Hearing Professionals Board (OSHPB). To earn the license from the OSHPB the SLP must complete their Supervised Professional Year (SPE) under the supervision of Barb Conrad, Supervisor of Speech-Language Therapy Services at the ESC. Generally, the SLP also completes their Clinical Evaluation Year (CFY) concurrently. Earning the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) is equivalent to the National Teacher board certification for educators.
