Applying for Substitute Teaching
Thank you for your interest in substitute teaching for
Lorain County school districts.

If you want to sub for Avon Lake, Clearview, Firelands, Lorain City, Sheffield/Sheffield Lake, Vermilion or Wellington schools, please complete the on-line application located at northcoastssa.org. If you are currently registered with NCSSA you will be contacted directly from NCSSA to renew.

If you want to sub for Amherst, Avon, Columbia, Keystone, Midview, the Academy or Detention Home, please follow these steps:

Step 2: As always, whether you are applying for a new license or renewing your current license, you are required to have a criminal background check. Ohio Criminal Record Checks BCI (Ohio) and FBI (Federal) Criminal Record Checks are only acceptable if they are less than one year old (if you are a new applicant).
 We provide electronic fingerprinting and background check services at our office.

You may complete the Background Information Form electronically, print it to bring with you or complete our printed form at time of printing.

Step 3: If you need to apply for a new or renew a substitute teachers license, please follow these instructions.(You cannot pay for your license by using a Mac or Tablet)

As of January 1, 2014 - all applications MUST be completed on-line (use firefox or google chrome browsers only).  

ALSO: Please note you will need to select Lorain County Educational Service Center (IRN # 048108) as your School District and as E-signer Superintendent in order for us to approve your application. If these do not match, your application will not be approved.

Step 4: Once we have received your completed application, BCI & FBI background checks and a valid teacher or substitute license you will go on the approved list for your chosen districts.

Step 5: You will be board approved by each school district you have chosen and in return receive your AESOP information and instructions from your chosen districts.
