The Educational Service Center of Lorain County's Extended School Year program will be held from June 24, 2013 to July 28, 2013 (4 days per week, no camp on July 4). Students with and without disabilities from age three through twenty can attend a sixteen day academic and social enrichment program at the Lorain County Early Learning Center. Many parents enroll their children for the camp experience by paying a nominal tuition fee of $150. Each classroom is staffed with a teacher and paraprofessional. Speech and Language services and Occupational Therapy services are provided per contracts with the sending school districts.
In addition to reading, writing, and math, there are a number of assemblies from presenters such as the Lorain County Engineer's Office, Lorain County Metroparks, Dentist Dr. Iliff, Ohio State University Extension Office, and Jungle Terry. Music Class was added last year and was a huge success with plans to make this a weekly program for each classroom. Last year, each classroom created their camp t-shirts during the course of the program and proudly wore them on the final day. ESY Camp culminated with field day and a family party on the last day.
