We need to know, now, if your school is participating so please email Debbie Hunt hunt@esclc.org immediately, indicating your school will be participating (include 2 phone numbers, district name, school name and your school email address). Speller names are due later (as you identify whom you will be sending to the competitions) using the Entry Form. Entry deadline is April 23rd.
All schools (public, private, parochial, charter & homeshool groups) located in Lorain County are eligible for participating in the county-wide combined-grades 3&4 and combined-grades 5&6 Spelling Bees sponsored by the Educational Service Center of Lorain County. Each district may enter up to 5 spellers in each Bee. A spelling advisor from each district is asked to enter the students using the Entry Form by April 23rd.
The 3-4 grade bee will be conducted first at 2pm, while the 5-6 grade bee will begin at approximately 4pm. Spellers are asked to report directly to their Green Room 30-minutes prior to their Bee.
Advisors are asked to read the Letter to Advisors and to review the Bee Rules with their students in the weeks prior to the ESCLC Bee on May 6, 2012. An advisor or representative for each school is required to be present with their students. Advisors may adapt the standard letter to parents to provide your speller’s family with information regarding the ESCLC Bee by personalizing it with any pertinent information from your school.
Advisors may use the following published word lists to help prepare students for the first two rounds of the ESCLC Bees; subsequent rounds word lists are unpublished.
