ESC of Lorain County Endowment Fund
March 05, 2008
PURPOSE
The Educational Service Center of Lorain County
Endowment Fund is a school and community-based organization. It is
designed to develop and provide a permanent source of supplemental
funding to improve the quality of education in Lorain County. The
Endowment Fund provides a mechanism through which community
resources can be allocated for worthwhile educational programs.
Assets of the ESC Endowment Fund will be used only for the support
and enhancement of educational and related services as overseen by
the Board of the Educational Service Center of Lorain County.
An Endowment Fund is an investment in the future!
CONTRIBUTIONS
Contributions to the Endowment Fund will never be spent! Rather,
they will be invested. The income thus generated will be available
for disbursement. This practice results in a growing Endowment as
contributions accumulate year after year – investments multiply –
interest income becomes available for spending. Grants are given
from the interest earned. See Granting for specific grants
awarded.
GOVERNANCE
The Educational Service Center of Lorain County Endowment Fund is
organized under the Community Foundation of Greater Lorain County
and, thereby, subject to the Foundation’s Governing Rules.
A Board of Trustees has been established to manage the Endowment
Fund locally. The Trustees work with the Board of the Educational
Service Center of Lorain County and its Superintendent. Trustees
have broad authority relative to all aspects of Endowment Fund
operations.
The Educational Service Center of Lorain County is governed by the
laws of the State of Ohio. All fund disbursements are subject to
audit and must conform to strict audit requirements.

GRANTING
The Educational Service Center of Lorain County
Endowment is very proud of the many grants that it has given since
1996 to support student instruction, technology and the arts.
One of the great programs that we have supported for several years
is the Music Therapy Program held at the Great Expectations
Children’s Development Center in Amherst. This center provides
intense language support as a process of developing communication
skills in preschool students with developmental delays. The ESCLC
Endowment has donated $16,214 to partially support a music therapy
instructor for Great Expectations.
Over the many years, the ESCLC Endowment has given a grand total of
$54,397.66 in grants.
