Short Cycle Science Assessment Bank CD
What are formative assessments?
“Formative assessment is a planned process in which assessment-elicited evidence of students’ status is used by teachers to adjust their ongoing instructional procedures or by students to adjust their current learning tactics.”
W. James Popham, Transformative Assessment
What are Short Cycle Science assessments?
Assessments are aligned to Ohio Science Content Standards and are given during instruction to guide and change teaching and learning strategies. The information gathered helps teachers check to ensure that students are learning, thinking, understanding, comprehending and processing at high levels.
Students should be involved in the assessments, charting their growth, and learning new strategies to continue their progress.
Using SCA creates a seamless integration between each individual teacher’s daily instruction and state assessment expectations, regardless of the text or supplemental materials used.
Our Purpose
Elementary and Secondary Teams of Science Educators from Erie, Huron and Lorain Counties worked collaboratively to create this bank of Short Cycle Science Assessments (SCA) that match Ohio Science Content Standards and Benchmarks.
We have produced this CD so that Science Educators would have a bank of assessments to use during Science Instruction grades 2-10.
