The ESCLC’s Child Safety & Abuse-Reporting & Prevention Seminar is a revision of our annual Reporting Child Abuse & Neglect Seminar which we have done annually for many years.  It used to be that every K-6 staff-member had to receive 4-hrs of training on this topic one time within 2 years of employment.    Now...The Ohio Department of Education has changed the requirements and has developed a new curriculum for this training.

Click here for the new curriculum outline.

This new curriculum meets new requirements of state law that K-12 staff members take training in each of these four areas:

•        Maintaining Mental & Behavioral Health, including Suicide Prevention

•        Recognizing & Reporting Child Abuse & Neglect

•        Substance Abuse

•        Bullying & Violence Prevention, Positive Youth Development & School Climate

Click here to see the New 2010 Seminar Agenda.

By March 30, 2009, and every 5-years thereafter, every K-6 staff-member must have received this training (OhioRevised Code Section 3319.073 ).  Furthermore, the Ohio House Bill 150 stipulates this training now be received by all K-12 school personnel.
