Lorain County Middle School Honors Choir & Band Festival
The 2010 Lorain County Middle School Honors Choir & Band Festival is an annual event sponsored by the ESC of Lorain County by invitation to students in grades 7 & 8 in the Avon, Clearview, Columbia, Firelands, Keystone, Midview, North Ridgeville and Wellington school districts. This Music Festival gives outstanding choir and band students a venue for showing their talent in several ways:
- via a musical experience and performance with peers from other schools
- learning new rehearsal and performance skills from a well-known guest conductor
- exposure to new and challenging music literature
- being a member of a performance group which stretches their current talent and leadership skills
The Festival experience is comprised of 3 parts:
1. Sectional Rehearsal with new colleagues in groups like instruments and voices conducted by various music directors.
4:00-5:45pm, March 25, 2010 at Keystone Middle School
Various sections/groupings of the choir (soprano, alto and baritone) and band (high woodwinds, high brass, middle woodwinds & brass, low woodwinds & brass & percussion) rehearse with local choir and band directors to practice before meeting with their guest director. The Honors Choir is composed of 130 soprano, alto and baritone voices from 8 schools. The Honors Band is composed of 63 instrumentalists from 8 schools. The program is selected by the guest conductor.
2. The all-day Music Clinic with the Guest Conductor and group learning for student and teacher alike.
