Educational Service Center of Lorain County

School Psychologists

ABOUT US

The Educational Service Center of Lorain County provides highly qualified, licensed, and certified school psychologists dedicated to supporting students, families, and schools.
School psychologists offer a wide range of services, including evaluation and assessment, planning, and ongoing support to students, families, and educational professionals. They work closely with districts to participate in intervention assistance teams and other initiatives designed to address student needs.
Our school psychologists collaborate with community agencies and professionals to provide individual and group counseling, supporting both academic and social-emotional growth. They remain current with best practices in education, special education procedures, and legal requirements through ongoing professional development.
Each school psychologist is assigned to specific districts, ensuring that services are tailored to meet the unique needs of the children, families, and schools they serve. With specialized training in both psychology and education, our psychologists bring expertise in understanding school systems, effective teaching strategies, and successful learning approaches.
Services are customized for each child and situation, but core areas typically include:

  • Consultation – partnering with educators, parents, and mental health professionals to design strategies for student success.
  • Assessment and Evaluation – providing psycho-educational evaluations that may assess ability, achievement, learning styles, and social-emotional functioning.
  • Intervention and Prevention – developing plans and strategies to address academic, behavioral, and social challenges.
  • Education and Research – applying evidence-based practices to enhance learning and development.
  • Planning and Mental Health Support – collaborating on individualized education programs (IEPs) and providing guidance to ensure continuity of services for students with special needs.
School psychologists play a vital role in the educational team, helping to create safe, healthy, and supportive environments where all students can thrive. They consult with teachers, administrators, parents, and outside agencies to promote educational and psychological well-being for every child.
