The purpose of this full day workshop is to present a basic overview of DBT Skills and orient school psychologists, school counselors, social workers, teachers, principals, counselors, and administrators to the basic tenets of DBT. The change-based and acceptance-based DBT skills will be taught. The change-based skills include the interpersonal effectiveness skills and the emotion regulation skills. The acceptance-based skills include the distress tolerance skills. Distress tolerance skills teach students skills on how to tolerate a
situation without acting on urges or impulses. Workshop participants will learn several DBT skills as well as how to apply DBT interventions to the school setting.
